Langhorne Heritage Farm Community Gardens
Every summer, Langhorne Heritage Farm hosts community gardeners from throughout the area. The Community Gardens started out in 1986 with eight plots. Today, 100 plots are rented out for flower and vegetable gardening. The community gardens are 100% organic, as the use of herbicides, pesticides and chemical fertilizers are prohibited.
Each garden plot is approx. 20’ x 20’ and is located at 222 North Green Street, Langhorne, Pennsylvania.
The plots shall be assigned by the garden manager prior to the start of the gardening season.
Included with the plot fee is a thorough rototilling and chiseling of the soil, performed in the spring just prior to opening day. Also, for the convenience of the gardeners, nine water taps are located throughout the field. Our gardeners take care to water wisely and conserve this most precious resource.
Garden plots are assigned as follows:
Returning gardeners from last year who submit a paid application by March 15th will receive first priority. Remaining available plots are assigned on a first come, first served basis according to the date paid applications are received. You will be notified by April 1st whether you have been assigned a garden plot. Those who are not assigned a plot will receive a full credit card refund. Depending on weather conditions, the gardening season usually starts the first or second week of April.
